BOP Release Records
BOP's inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present and may show a release date. BOP explains that "Released" or "Not in BOP Custody" means the person is no longer in BOP custody, but the person may still be in another correctional or law-enforcement system or on supervision.

When BOP Applies
BOP does not confirm ordinary Bullock County misdemeanor jail releases. Use it when the person was sentenced federally, transferred from local custody to federal custody, or has a federal register number. For federal pretrial or remand custody, U.S. Marshals and federal court context may matter before BOP has a sentenced-prisoner record.
- Ask the sheriff whether release was to federal custody.
- Search BOP by name or register number.
- Check federal court or Marshals context when pretrial custody is involved.
- Return to Bullock court records for the local case event.
