Bullock County Released Inmates
A release record answers a narrow question: when and why did a person leave a custody point. For Bullock County Jail, that record starts with the Bullock County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff page gives the local contact channel, but it does not show a current inmate roster, a released inmate list, a 24-hour list, a 72-hour list, or a booking-photo feed. That absence is important. A person can be released from the jail and leave no public online roster entry behind.
The release reason controls the next source. Bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, probation, parole, transfer to ADOC, another county hold, federal custody, ICE custody, medical release, or sentence completion each leaves a different trail. The sheriff can confirm the physical jail event. The Bullock County court file often explains the legal reason. ADOC, ABPP, BOP, ICE, VINELink, and ALEA may matter only when the person falls within those systems.
Key point. A released person usually drops off a live custody list. In Bullock County, no official online release list was verified, so direct confirmation and court checks carry more weight than a web search.
Bullock Record Request Language
A narrow request helps the sheriff or records office identify the right record without turning the search into a broad demand for every document in a case. The research recommends purpose-neutral language tied to custody verification. A useful request asks whether a named person, with a date of birth if known, was booked into Bullock County Jail during a date range and, if released, asks for the release date, release type, and destination or transfer agency if recorded. If a booking photograph is needed, ask whether the photo is a releasable public record and whether a fee, exemption, or form applies.
For ADOC, use the agency's Form 023-A process rather than an informal email alone. The form asks for requester identity, Alabama residency attestation, inmate name, AIS number, date of birth, the requested records, preferred format, and attestation. The current form states that a non-refundable $20 processing fee must accompany the request. That is separate from any Bullock County sheriff or court fee.
Bullock County Release Types
Bullock County release language should stay specific. A release from jail does not always mean the person walked out with no more justice-system contact. It may mean the jail transferred the person to ADOC after sentencing, returned the person to another county, honored a court order, or released the person to parole or probation. The table below uses the release paths documented in the research, not a generic Alabama roster model.
| Release type | What it means | Next place to check |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court order | The jail releases the person under a judge's order or posted bond. | Bullock County Circuit or District Court through Alacourt or the clerk. |
| Time served or sentence completion | The custody term is satisfied, often with jail credit. | Sheriff release record and court disposition. |
| Probation or parole | The person leaves custody with supervision to follow. | ABPP and the court order. |
| Transfer to ADOC | The person leaves county jail for state prison custody. | ADOC inmate search while currently incarcerated. |
| Federal or ICE hold | The person leaves local custody for a federal or immigration process. | BOP, U.S. Marshals context, ICE ODLS, and the court file. |
Bullock County Release Record Fields
A Bullock County jail release record may include more detail than the public can see online. The research found no official web table with booking date, release date, booking number, release reason, charges, bond, arresting agency, housing location, profile page, or booking photo. Those fields may still exist in jail records. They must be requested from the sheriff when releasable.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and date of birth | Identifies the person so similar names are not confused. |
| Booking date and booking number | Ties the release to the original jail entry. |
| Release date or time | Shows when the person left the jail if recorded and releasable. |
| Release type | Shows bond, time served, court order, transfer, dismissal, parole, or another reason. |
| Case or warrant number | Connects the jail record to the Bullock court file. |
| Destination or agency | Shows whether the person went to the community, ADOC, another county, federal custody, or ICE. |
Request Bullock County Release Records
For county jail records, use the Bullock County Sheriff's Office. The official page lists Sheriff Raymond "Buck" Rodgers, 217 N Prairie St. #112, Union Springs, AL 36089, phone 334-738-2670, email bullockcountysheriff@ustconline.net, and Monday through Friday hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A request should be narrow. Give the person's full legal name, date of birth if known, booking date or date range, release date or date range, and case or warrant number if known.
- Ask first whether the person is currently in Bullock County Jail or was released from that jail.
- If released, ask for the release date, release type, and any transfer or destination agency if releasable.
- Request the booking or release log entry, and ask whether a booking photo is releasable.
- Check the Bullock County court file when the release was tied to bond, dismissal, sentence credit, probation, revocation, or court order.
- If the person transferred to ADOC, federal custody, ICE, or another county, use that receiving agency for the next custody step.
For ADOC release records, the Alabama Department of Corrections uses Form 023-A. The research captured a non-refundable $20 processing fee, Alabama residency attestation, inmate name, AIS number, date of birth, record description, and requester contact fields. ADOC says requests must be made in writing to the Public Records Coordinator and that more fees may be quoted before records are provided.
Bullock Release Record Law
Alabama public-records law is the baseline. Ala. Code Section 36-12-41 says a public officer with custody of a record that a resident has a right to inspect must provide a copy on proper request and payment of a reasonable fee. For jail and court records, access can still be limited by juvenile rules, Youthful Offender Act status, sealing, expungement, medical privacy, protected personal data, active investigative material, victim data, and security concerns.
Expungement is court-centered in Alabama. ALEA says courts grant expungements, and Ala. Code Section 15-27-1 lists circumstances for petitions in the criminal division of the circuit court where the charges were filed. For Bullock County records, the court order is the document that supports official correction or restriction requests.
Find Released Bullock County Inmates
Start by deciding who last held the person. A recent local arrest points to the sheriff and the Bullock court. A state-prison sentence points to ADOC, ABPP, and Alabama VNS. A federal sentence points to BOP. An immigration hold points to ICE ODLS. A qualifying registry case points to ALEA. Bullock searches fail when these systems are mixed together.
- For a county jail release, contact the sheriff because no official Bullock release feed was verified.
- Search the Bullock County court case through Alacourt or the clerk for bond, disposition, sentence, probation, revocation, or dismissal.
- Use ADOC only if the person is or may be in state prison custody. ADOC's public search is current-custody only.
- Use Probation & Parole checks when supervision follows release.
- Use VINELink Inmate Search for notifications where the record is covered.
- Use BOP or ICE only for federal or immigration custody, not for ordinary Bullock jail releases.
ADOC Search for Bullock Releases
ADOC's inmate search matters because Bullock Correctional Facility is in Union Springs and county detainees can transfer to state prison after sentencing. It is not a Bullock County Jail roster. ADOC states that the database contains currently incarcerated inmates only and that historical data is not available online. A former prisoner may disappear from the public search after release.
The manifest screenshot for ADOC inmate search shows the current-custody warning and supports this limit.
Use ADOC before release to read current custody data and scheduled date fields. After release, use ADOC records request, ABPP, VNS, court records, or ALEA registry when applicable.
| ADOC field | How it works |
|---|---|
| AIS number | Six-digit ADOC number. If entered, it overrides name fields. |
| First and last name | Can be used separately or together. Name search is open-ended. |
| Minimum Release Date | Earliest scheduled date for release to probation or end of sentence. |
| Jail Credit | County jail time before sentencing, prepared by the sentencing county clerk. |
| Parole Consideration Date | A tentative board date, not a guaranteed release date. |
Bullock Jail Release Feed Absence
No verified Bullock County 24-hour release feed, 72-hour release feed, current roster, released roster, archived inmate list, booking-photo feed, or sheriff mobile app was found on official sources. That finding shapes the whole site. The Jail Releases: 24 Hours page and Jail Releases: 72 Hours page should be read as same-day and three-day verification workflows, not as links to a hidden Bullock roster.
The official sheriff page remains useful because it gives the real office, phone, email, address, and hours. It is not useful as a public release table. Search results for similarly named Bulloch County, Georgia, should not be used for Bullock County, Alabama.
Bullock Court Release Proof
The Bullock Circuit Clerk page says the clerk is the official record keeper for District and Circuit Court records, including criminal, traffic, juvenile, and warrants. That makes court records the durable release-confirmation layer when the jail has no online release list. The court file can show bond orders, case disposition, sentence terms, probation, revocation, dismissal, nolle prosequi, acquittal, jail credit, or expungement effects.
The manifest screenshot for Bullock County Third Circuit Court shows the courthouse contact and supports routing court questions there.
Court records explain why a person left custody. They do not replace the jail record for the physical release event, so both sources may be needed.
Notifications and Federal Releases
Alabama VINE and Alabama VNS help with custody-change notices where the covered record exists. VNS is limited to offenders convicted in Alabama and sentenced to ADOC custody. For a Bullock County pretrial case that has not gone to trial, the Alabama VNS page says to contact the sheriff in the county where the crime occurred. A VINE alert is notice of a status change, not a certified discharge record.
Federal and immigration releases are separate. BOP can show federal records from 1982 to the present and may show "Released" or "Not in BOP Custody." ICE ODLS is a current-detention locator, not a Bullock County release archive. TRAC showed a historical Bullock County Jail detainer entry, but the research found no active Bullock ICE detention contract.

Bullock County Release Facilities
Bullock has a county jail function, a state prison, a local supervision office, court records, and federal or immigration fallback systems that can all appear in a release search. The most common local error is confusing Bullock County Jail with Bullock Correctional Facility. The jail is a sheriff path. Bullock Correctional Facility is an ADOC state-prison path.
